Q:
What educational approach does the ATI curriculum utilize?
A: The Wisdom Booklet series, the core curriculum of ATI is an academic unit study built around Scripture.
The Wisdom Booklets focus on Biblical concepts and themes to which all academic disciplines relate. The subjects of linguistics, history, law, science, and medicine are presented in balance to their relationship to Scripture. Through this method, comprehension and long-term retention are heightened, because subjects are related to one another around a central theme of learning.
The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7) is the basis of the Wisdom Booklet unit studies. Each Wisdom Booklet is based on one concept in Christ’s teaching and is studied over one month. Fathers, mothers, and students learn and apply the ways of the Lord as a family, growing closer to one another over a common monthly theme rather than pursuing unrelated courses of study. The students then apply what they have learned through assigned projects at their age levels.
Q:
What is a Wisdom Booklet?
A: The ATI curriculum consists of over 3,000 pages divided into 54 Wisdom Booklets. Each Booklet amplifies a section of Christ’s Sermon on the Mount through practical instruction in linguistics, history, science, mathematics, law, and medicine.
Q:
What is WBLA?
A: In order to write well, a student must learn to think well. As a supplement to the Wisdom Booklets, the Wisdom Booklet Language Arts (WBLA) material teaches spelling, writing, vocabulary, and grammar in a format designed to help train the thinking process of the student.
Three levels of WBLA cover grades 3–12, while the content for learning language arts is built around the themes of each Wisdom Booklet. Students can do much of their work with minimal teacher supervision.
WBLA booklets are available for purchase at ATI Training
Conferences or through the IBLP Online
Store
.
Q:
Are any supplements needed within the ATI curriculum?
A: Each Wisdom Booklet introduces all necessary subjects through a unit study approach. Along with a solid resource library for project research, most subjects should not require extensive supplementation. However, you will find it necessary to supplement mathematics.
Supplementation is necessary when parents note that their student needs to spend extra time studying certain subjects. The following may contribute to these needs:
- A specific interest, goal, or the life purpose of the student
- A particular difficulty for a student in a given area
- Secondary education certification requirements of the home state calling for a depth of study in a certain subject, which may exceed that of a particular Wisdom Booklet Resource or project (e.g., chemistry or biology labs).
Don’t begin to regard the Wisdom Booklets as just another subject that must be completed each day. When that happens, the purpose of making the Scriptures central in our lives is defeated. The Wisdom Booklets must be regarded as the core curriculum for a family to succeed in the ATI program.
Remember that no academic textbook or tutor (by video, satellite, or Internet) can ever take a parent’s place in the teaching and training of children. This is not to say that parents should not employ these tools and helps. They have their place. (See Galatians 4:2.) They are useful accessories, not essentials, in teaching your children.
Q:
Is it possible to continue on with ATI when my children are high-school
age?
A: Yes! In fact, the high-school age and beyond is the time when the ATI program becomes increasingly exciting for students. Check our student opportunity pages to see the wide range of skills and ministry training available to complement your home education.
Q:
Will ATI prepare my children for college?
A: Yes, and better yet, ATI helps you and your student determine what training will most effectively equip him to fulfill his individual life purpose.
ATI offers college-level training, which can lead to degrees, both through distance learning or on-site instruction provided by programs such as The Telos Institute International. Additional bachelors-level and graduate-level degree programs and institutions are being developed. Students may apply much of their training and ministry experience through various opportunities toward college credit granted by cooperative educational institutions. See the ATI Resource Manual for more information.

Q:
May I apply if I have only attended the Basic Seminar and not the Advanced?
A: Attendance of both seminars by both husband and wife is required for enrollment in ATI. If a father and/or mother are unable to attend the Advanced Seminar before applying, they may make plans to attend the Advanced Seminar within the first year of enrollment. You may view the seminar schedule at iblp.org.
If you are unable to attend a seminar in your area, additional options are available. Contact us for more information.
Q:
When do I pay my tuition?
A: After notification of your acceptance into ATI, you may pay your tuition in one of two ways:

A: Your annual tuition covers curriculum, training, encouragement, and assistance you need to make your school year a success. A portion of the fee underwrites the development of new supplemental materials, student training courses, administrative costs, communication, training, and encouragement for parents.
