What makes this course unique?
Several elements of The Telos Institute International’s CNA course may make it different than the CNA training available in a student’s local area.
- Students will be trained by Christian professionals in the realm of direct patient care. A Biblical perspective for care giving is presented and applied in both theory and the clinical setting.
- This course reaches beyond typical CNA training components to include pharmacology, medication prompting, and the numerous resources available for missions and/or income enhancement within your own community.
- Students will find sensitivity to modesty, language, and the ethical issues in the current health care culture, a perspective of Biblical wholeness, and a Christian approach to end-of-life issues. Guided discussions will address the students’ new experiences, particularly in regard to expressing “true religion” as defined in James 1:27 (caring for widows and orphans) and ensuring that those in our care are first seen as individuals—never as tasks.
- Numerous synergies will be examined, looking at interaction between institutional care and home care, whether as a mission, for profit, or respite care for other believers.
- Every effort will be made to individualize instruction to address such needs as care of the elderly, handicapped, and depressed, including pediatric and Alzheimer patients.

CNA Certification
For certification, it is required to have 30 classroom hours and 75 clinical hours (a total of 105 hours). CNA students will gain this theory and hands-on clinical experience in a local long-term care facility under the supervision of our experienced Christian nurses/instructors.
To be eligible to become certified, students must attend the entire four-week session. As we receive applications, first priority will be given to students wishing to complete the certification process. As space permits, we will also admit students who simply want to acquire care-giving skills for use in their own home, but cannot be away from home for a full four weeks (i.e. parents, family care givers). Only those individuals who complete the full course and pass the examinations will receive certification.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to take the Indiana state written and clinical competency exams, which must be taken to complete the certification process. After passing the competency exams at the conclusion of this class, students will receive a CNA certification. This certification is acceptable through reciprocity in most states and will enable students to fill a vital need within the local church and community. If you want to know about your specific state’s reciprocity process, please call the Telos office.
Student Pass Rate
Telos has held six CNA courses, and each one has concluded with a 100% student pass rate on the state exams! State examiners have been impressed with the quality of our students.
About the Instructor
Robert L. Norcross II, R.N., an ATI father of four daughters, is the director for this program, and he will oversee the students’ clinical experience. Years ago, Mr. Norcross began his own nursing career as a CNA. He held this position for five years and then worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for two years. He has been a Registered Nurse (RN) since 1988.
Mr. Norcross is licensed in four states and has taught numerous CNA classes in three states. His instruction has yielded a 90% pass rate for those completing his courses for state certification. He is also certified as an Advanced Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator. Mr. Norcross and his wife of twenty years, Stacy, will be available to the students during their stay in Indianapolis.
