Q: When will I know whether or not I have been accepted to EQUIP?
A: We typically send an acceptance packet within two–four weeks of receiving your application. Please contact our office if you need more immediate information. If you include an e-mail address on your application, we will send your acceptance materials via e-mail.
Q: What do I need to bring with me?
A: The acceptance packet includes a detailed packing list. This packet will be sent within two–four weeks of receiving your application. All needed items will be clearly listed. You will want to pack lightly, as living space is limited. Again, please contact us if you have questions.
Q: How much vacation time will I have?
A: After the first two months of training, you will have one week of vacation time for each four-month* practicum. Particular vacation dates are flexible, but you will need to discuss them with Training Center staff members.
* Due to the necessity of scheduling around events and holidays, some practicums may be longer than four months. Please contact the EQUIP office for exact dates.
Q: Do you ever accept students younger than 17?
A: The challenges of EQUIP training are more suited to those at least 17 years of age. Accepting a younger, yet mature, student is not out of the question, however. Exceptions and appeals can be worked through the EQUIP office.
Q: How much free time will I have for personal projects (e.g., school work, music practice) during EQUIP?
A: During training, you will use most of your spare time for EQUIP studies and Scripture memory. After training, you will be given some personal time for journaling and paperwork you are assigned at the Training Center. We ask that you complete high school before enrolling in EQUIP because you will not have time to concentrate on personal studies. Your schedule may allow you small amounts of time for things like music practice, but you will need to be prepared to make ministry your priority.
Q: What can I do to prepare for EQUIP?
A: The most important way to get ready for EQUIP is by preparing your heart to seek the Lord. He will be your Lifeline during your time in Indianapolis. It would also be a good idea to train your mind and body for EQUIP by seeking to establish disciplines such as early rising and Scripture memorization.
Q: What if I can’t afford it?
A: We ask that the tuition cost of EQUIP ($2,200) be paid upon arrival at the Indianapolis Training Center. This cost covers all expenses for the first two months of training, as well as the first four-month service module. If paying in a lump sum is inconvenient for you, alternate methods of payment are available. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
Q: Can I receive scholastic credit for EQUIP?
A: Students can receive up to 32 Telos credit hours for EQUIP training and service. For more information, see the overview page.
