Taiwan Ministry
opportunities to share God’s truth
Taiwan Ministry History
In 1993, a Christian organization hosted the first Basic Seminar in Taiwan. Mr. Gothard, several board members, directors, and Russian officials came to conduct the seminar. At that time they also met with government officials, educators, and church leaders. ATI students were able to visit various schools throughout Taipei where they were free to share the Gospel.
The Basic Seminar has been conducted annually in Taiwan ever since, and the ministry has spread to several cities. In 1995, an IBLP branch office was established in Taiwan, and the Lord continues to prosper the ministry there.
For the past six years, the Children’s Institute and character training programs have been laying a foundation for the opportunities God has opened this year. Since 2001, King Car Education Foundation has hosted teams of ATI students in conducting English Camps, a program that teaches English through the medium of character training. In 2003, 19 students stayed on after the English Camps to teach English in the schools of Nantou and Chiayi counties. These teachers have received attention from the press, as well as affirmation from the Premier and Minister of Education.
To assist in this work, a character-based English curriculum that focuses on character education, English proficiency, and life application is being developed. It is our prayer that Christians can use this curriculum to meet the practical needs of people and thereby prepare people’s hearts for the Gospel.
