If I don’t respect the authority over me, do I still need to honor him?

Answer

It is important to distinguish between an authority’s position under God and his human personality. We are to reverence his position, even though at the same time we may be very aware of his personal weaknesses and failures.

To reject an authority because you don’t respect him could be likened to tearing up a speeding ticket because you didn’t like the attitude of the police officer who issued it.
