Meet the Staddon Family
Don and Donna Staddon were married in 1977. They now have eight children and live in Salem, West Virginia. They began homeschooling in 1985 and have enjoyed using ATI's Wisdom Booklets, which provide a unit study approach centered on the teaching of Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount. (See Matthew 5-7.)
When struggles arise in their family, Don and Donna seek to apply Biblical principles in resolving them. Some of these struggles include relational barriers due to anger or a judgmental spirit. Even though it is difficult to accept criticism and admit when they are wrong, humbly asking for forgiveness is vital to maintaining unity and harmony in their home.
The Staddons are enthusiastic about working with their children to find God's best in their personal lives and in their interaction with others through their life roles. One tool Don has found effective is asking questions such as "Who is your best friend?" and "What qualities do you admire in this friend?" These questions help him discover areas where a friend is meeting needs that he and Donna should be alert to.
The ATI Wisdom Booklets have helped Donna relate specific Biblical principles and character qualities to the needs of each child. These and other tools, such as regular family devotions, have helped their family stay on the same side of the struggles they face.
