Q: Do foreign Children’s Institutes work just like the ones in the States?
A: Although there are a few differences, the structure of foreign Children’s Institutes is very similar to a stateside one. The language barrier is the main difference, so interpreters are placed on teams as needed.
Q: What is it like to teach through an interpreter? Do the children get anything out of it?
A: By the grace of God, definitely yes! Children at foreign Children’s Institutes are often ignorant of basic spiritual truths that we take for granted. Teaching through an interpreter can be challenging, but it is effective.
Q: Do I book my ticket, or does the Institute do that? Will I be flying overseas by myself or with a group?
A: After you are approved for a trip, IBLP will handle all travel arrangements. You can expect to meet the CI team at an airport in the United States, and travel overseas with the entire group.
Q: What immunizations are required for travel to Taiwan, Malaysia, or Singapore?
A: No immunizations are required for travel to any of these countries.
Q: I would love to do something like this, but it is so expensive. I just don’t have the finances for it right now…
A: $1,200, $1,800, or $2,200 is a lot of money. However, think about it in the following terms: “How much do I need to save per day in order to do the _____ CI trip next year?” It might actually be possible to save the money! Seek the Lord on this matter. Some students are lead to raise support via letters; some are supported by their church. If the Lord wants you at a foreign seminar, He will provide the means for you to do it.
